The upcoming 60th anniversary of the start of work of the great Leader Comrade KIM JONG IL at the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea (WPK) gives us the idea and the opportunity to hail his great achievements on foreign activities.

Shortly after the historic day of June 19, Juche 53 (1964), he entered into the responsible phase of actively assisting the great Leader Comrade KIM IL SUNG in his external activities.

The 1960s and 1970s were the time when the WPK concentrated its foreign contacts and relations on the newly emerged independent countries.

The WPK and the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) strengthened their antiimperialist solidarity with Asian, African and Latin-American countries.

In April Juche 54 (1965) Chairman KIM JONG IL accompanied President KIM IL SUNG on his historic state visit to Indonesia.

Shortly after his return, on May 9, 1965, Comrade KIM JONG IL teached the Party cadres who were responsible for external relations to intensify their knowledge and to strengthen their activities with the newly independent countries.

He even encouraged the cadres to learn more foreign languages to become able to host visiting leaders and dignitaries better than before.

He urged the cadres to be always friendly and modest when they host foreign diplomatic dignitaries and not to behave like their "teachers".

As a result, the relations of the DPRK with Asian, African and Latin-American countries became stronger in the 1970s and 1980s.

In August 1975 the DPRK joined the Nonaligned Movement (NAM) as a full member state. This was a historic step to which Chairman KIM JONG IL gave a great importance.

Until the end of his great life, Chairman KIM JONG IL developed and enlarged actively and untiringly the WPK's and the DPRK's external relations.

With this, the Juche idea became better known among the progressive mankind and could enlarge the ranks of its followers on all continents.

Really, the great Leader Comrade KIM JONG IL was a great veteran of world politics with high prestige.
